Product Development

This Directorate encompasses creation of products with new or different characteristics that meet the changing customer and technological demands. The key steps involved in new product development stages range from idea generation to commercialization. The department undertakes evaluation of the idea of introducing new product, background preparation for designing new product, prototype designing, and pilot testing before its finally commercialized. The main objective is to conduct demand driven research to create utility out of science and technology to produce new and improved products. Sections under this directorate include; analytical laboratories (Chemistry, microbiology& Biotechnology, and food research laboratories), minerals and materials, mushroom technology, textile and weaving, paper and pulp and bamboo technology.
