The products the Uganda Industrial Research Institute (UIRI) has manufactured from the Bamboo plant have caught the attention of both national and international organizations with interest in the development of the Bamboo product range.

More recently the Uganda Industrial Research Institute received guests from the BBC (Smart Money and Biashara Bomba) who took time to interact with the Wood Engineering Department technical team and see their innovations. This was followed by the visit from the International Network for Bamboo and Rattan and the National Forest Authority.

Bamboo products are catching on fast on the market with furniture, fuel, air purifiers and bicycle parts being made among others. As focus is being drawn to adding value to the Bamboo tree UIRI recognizes that it holds potential in promoting natural forest cover preservation by reducing on wood cutting.
