Quaishi Mabel travelled from Tema Ghana to Uganda, after learning about the Uganda Industrial Research Institute from the African Agribusiness Incubators Network (AAIN). Mabel notes that her learning journey was inspired by the hope of bringing new products on the Ghanaian market.

“I will be training in making fish products, sausages, burgers and ready to eat smoked fish,” she explains, adding that she had conducted a market survey on fish products and was confident of the market in Ghana.

Mabel asserts that Ghana has the Food and Research Institute, but the focus there is on meat products and she wished to explore value addition on fish and see how to make fish a commercial product. She also notes that she wanted to learn about the machines, equipment and packaging needed.
